Welcome to the Jewish Community of Helsinki!
Our small and vibrant community is one of the most northern Jewish communities in the world. It is located in Kamppi neighbourhood in the heart of Helsinki, the capital of Finland.
The synagogue was inaugurated in 1906 and the community centre in 1961. The Jewish Community of Helsinki offers many activities and services to its c. 1,100 members from birth until old age.
Jewish upbringing has an important role within the community, and so the community maintains a kindergarten, Päiväkoti Gan Jeladim, for children between ages three and six, and a comprehensive school, the Jewish School of Helsinki, covering classes from one to nine. The curriculum follows the national guidelines, but places a special emphasis on Jewish studies including Hebrew, Jewish religion and Jewish history.
